When the parents or in-laws are coming to town, the last thing you want to do is settle for a mediocre meal. Make sure your parents are “wow-ed” with our list of restaurants that impress even the toughest of critics, every time. Whether your parents are footing the bill or you’re treating mom and dad for the first time, we want to be sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck! Instead of scouring countless Yelp reviews visit these easy, go-to spots for a parents night out.

Some of these places are BYOB which, if your parents are like ours, is a definite plus. Let mom or dad show off their sommelier skills and have them bring the wine or pack a cooler with your parent’s favorites to make dinner a breeze. If you’d rather leave the mixology to the professionals, we have options for you, too.

Yellowfin

BYOB; Walk-in only

If seafood is your parent’s top pick, there is no shortage of LBI restaurants that dish out some of the freshest seafood around. Our pick? Yellowfin in Surf City. You’ll find some of the most amazing and unique seafood dishes that would rival any restaurant in NYC. Perfect for your parents who love upscale dining and swear that any restaurant outside the city just can’t compare. Yellowfin has been around for more than 20 years and has earned its spot as a staple on the island. The tuna pizza and BYOB policy keep us coming back (in addition to the very cozy atmosphere!). This is a true foodie paradise.

The Beach House

BYOB; Walk-in or reserve via Yelp

Beach House brings the quintessential LBI vibes - upscale and modern with a touch of beachy vibes. The menu is pretty expansive including seafood dishes, chicken and steak choices and a full page of vegan and vegetarian options. This is the perfect place to bring your health conscious rents while not sacrificing on incredible food. Another BYOB spot, you’re safest bet here is grabbing a chilled bottle of chardonnay or two on the way or choose from a bottle they have available from Sharrott Winery. The pistachio scallops are a must, and be sure to split lots of apps to get a little taste of everything. Reservations are highly recommended here so be sure to make them early via Yelp.

The Gables

BYOB; Reservations required via OpenTable

If you’re celebrating or just in the mood to ball out, The Gables is the perfect place to enjoy a meal. The exterior is absolutely gorgeous and drowning in flowers. The pre-fixe menu makes dinner simple, just let them know of any dietary restrictions when you make the reservation and the chef is happy to accommodate. You’ll be presented with three incredible courses, each better than the last. The menu changes from day to day but you can rest assured that each ingredient is as fresh and local as you can get. Make a reservation for their back garden and we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Bird and Betty’s

NOT BYOB; Walk-ins only or parties of 6-8 can reserve on RESY

Give your parents what they really came to LBI for... sunset views and daiquiris. Bird and Betty’s brand new enormous bayside deck is the perfect spot to bring your parents if they’re looking for specialty cocktails and water views. We love the laid back vibes here and their white clam pie isn't too shabby either! Pull up by car or by boat and get ready to relax. Give your parents a taste of what Long Beach Island is really like. Bird and Betty’s is also the perfect spot for a cute family selfie for mom’s Facebook feed so be sure you’re photo ready.
