Boozy Brunches Worth Getting Out of Bed For
Very few things can get us out of bed on Sunday morning but we do make certain exceptions, like brunch.
We admit that we may be a little biased here but brunch is *maybe* the best meal ever. Give us any excuse to sip champagne and devour an obscene amount of carbs before noon and we’re there. The perfect hybrid between breakfast and lunch, brunch menus offer something for everyone, including your friend who “hates” breakfast and the one who “must” have eggs.
Lucky for us and for you and for all brunch lovers alike, Long Beach Island is home to some incredible and FUN places that serve brunch... and we’ve done a lot of research. Round up your Sunday brunch gang and buckle in for our favorite brunch spots on Long Beach Island.
Important: We try to stay away from the places with 1+ hour long waits because uhhh we get pretty hangry in the AM, so this list reflects that sentiment. We are just not messing around when it comes to our favorite meal of the week.
Our Favorite Brunches on LBI
Nardi’s
You may be familiar with this Long Beach Island staple for their pink party bus but Nardi’s best-kept secret is their breakfast. While most tourists are hitting the crazy popular breakfast spots on the island you can usually walk right into Nardi’s during breakfast… just don’t expect anything fancy here. Sit on the patio and order an omelette and what is debatably the best bloody on the island. Sit back, relax, and bask in the glory of boozy brunch with no wait.
Daymark
The light and bright vibes of Daymark are the perfect way to reset after a long week… AND the Sunday brunch is to die for. Daymark doesn’t just bring the ambiance, they also serve some of the most unique and delicious food on LBI. We always start with a mimosa and then we try to convince ourselves to stray from the crispy oyster and grits but it's truly just too good to order anything else. Convince your tablemates to order the buttermilk pancakes so you can sneak a bite of that pecan praline caramel deliciousness.
Wally’s
While Wally’s doesn’t serve alcohol, we’re more than happy to bring our own champagne if we can pair it with our favorite crumb cake. The server always brings over a bucket of ice to keep your bubbly cool even on hot summer mornings. Soak up the sun (with your pup!) on Wally’s patio or in their backyard while you peruse their massive breakfast menu. Our pro tip: get something sweet like the Reese’s Pancakes for the whole table to share in addition to everyone’s meals.
Old Causeway
We’re hesitant to put this one on our list because we wish we could keep this one all to ourselves, but the cat is out of the bag! The Old Causeway is known for rustic comfort food and relaxed vibes that are perfect for a casual Sunday morning. Locals are passionate about their brunch dish of choice here but ultimately it always boils down to this — the Chicken & Waffles versus the Spanish Scramble. Do yourself a favor and get one of each and share with friends. The Mud Shuttle is our saving grace after OC’s $1 mimosa refills and we always make sure to tip the driver!
Spray Beach Hotel
There aren’t many beach bars on Long Beach Island and there’s even fewer that do brunch but the Sand Dollar Restaurant at the Spray Beach Hotel is here to fulfill your brunch goals. If your idea of a dream vacation includes sipping a Bloody Mary beachside, the Sand Dollar Restaurant is the only place you need to be. We are obsessed with the “Crabby Benny,’” ‘cuz you can’t go wrong with poached eggs and crab cakes. Even their morning cocktail menu is bigger than any we’ve seen; classics like mimosas and bloody’s mingle with fancy cocktails like the “morning mule” and “blood orange mimosa.”
