Acai Bowls That Taste Like Summer

On a hot summer day there’s nothing better than some fresh fruit to cool you down and hydrate you… plus, it doesn’t hurt if it’s covered in Nutella. Acai bowls are part of the latest healthy food craze and consist of a blended smoothie base made with acai berries; it’s loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. You’ll typically find these big, beautiful bowls layered with granola, fresh fruit and coconut flakes, but there are a ton of flavor combinations to fuel your cravings.
Long Beach Island is home to so many cute acai bowl shops that satisfy, whether you’re looking for something all natural or you prefer a sweet treat covered in peanut butter (no judgement). Playa Bowls
Playa Bowls touts itself as New Jersey’s original acai shop and while we’re not here to debate who was here first, we are ready to eat all the acai bowls to find out. We love coming to the Beach Haven location because they have the cutest picnic tables with umbrellas set up outside for us to enjoy our bowls. Each and every bowl comes out looking absolutely perfect here, ready for its closeup. While the bowls are picture perfect they are also super fresh and delicious. The staff here is very helpful so it’s the perfect place to go if you’ve never had an acai bowl before because they will be happy to help you out. If you’re not sure where to start we recommend the Nutella bowl. It’s your classic bowl topped with granola, banana, strawberry, and topped with coconut flakes and, of course, Nutella.
Incredibowls
Created in Surf City, Incredibowls is serving up some of the freshest bowls on LBI. The fruit here is always sweet and on point and they have a wide variety of options available. Our favorite here is the Surf City bowl (naturally). It has a little bit of everything including granola, banana, blueberry, raspberry, cacao nibs, coconut flakes, honey and peanut butter. These are some of the most unique bowls on LBI in addition to being some of the prettiest. You won’t just find the basic stuff here. This is a definite local gem.
Frutta Bowls
Another go-to acai bowl spot is Frutta Bowls. The LBI location is situated right on the Boulevard so it’s the perfect place to swing by to grab a post-beach treat. You’ll usually find lots of street parking here so it’s perfect if you’re coming by car. If you’re not taking your bowl to-go, you’ll find lots of cute outdoor seating under an awning to keep you cool. We love the PB&J bowl here. It’s got bananas, blueberries and granola, topped with a drizzle of peanut butter. This bowl is so refreshing after a day in the sun it’s become an absolute must-visit after a beach day.
Livin’ on The Veg
If you’re looking for an acai bowl that’s actually healthy and not just a dessert in disguise (again, no judgement), Livin On The Veg offers the perfect bowl for you. You’ll find that their acai bowl is perfect if you’re looking to cut out all the additives you might find elsewhere. Make sure you get to this spot before noon to secure your bowl as they only serve them for breakfast here. The acai bowl consists of all-natural blended acai, topped with granola and fresh fruit. No frills or added sugar here.
