When you think of your favorite summertime activities, we’d be willing to bet the big bucks that mini golf comes to mind, especially at the Jersey shore. And then there’s ice cream, obviously… because there’s no better excuse for an ice cold sweet treat than “it’s hot.”

Mini golf is the perfect summer activity any time of day, but we love to go after dinner at sunset or while waiting for the clouds to pass during our beach day. Long Beach Island has no shortage of fun and funky mini golf courses and most are actually walking distance to our favorite ice cream shops! We’re breaking down our favorite 18 holes to hit on date night or with the kids and our favorite places to walk to get some ice cream after. Winner doesn’t have to pay for their ice cream… ;)

Jen’s Links and Poppy’s Ice Cream Parlor

If you find yourself at the north end of the island this summer, you absolutely have to check out Jen’s Links at LBI. There are not one, but TWO 18-hole courses to choose from, so you can either take your pick or play both at a discounted rate. Come around before dusk and start with the “low tide” course, which weaves under the caves and through shipwrecks, then move to the “high tide” course to catch spectacular sunset views while you putt. After those 36 holes you’ll definitely need a little pick me up, so it’s time for some ice cream! Walk just one block to Poppy’s Ice Cream Parlor. The line may be long but it moves fast and we promise, it’s totally worth it. They have tons of different flavors and our favorite combo is a scoop of black raspberry and a scoop of Nutter Butter on a wafer cone!

Flamingo Mini Golf and Our Endless Summer

Flamingo Mini Golf is an LBI staple — it’s been around forever for a reason! The nostalgia we get when playing here is unmatched. Even if you’ve been coming for years, the course is still fun and challenging. After some friendly competition with your mini golfing companions, it’s time to grab some ice cream! Walk across the street to the Our Endless Summer’s ice cream window for a sweet treat. Keep it simple with a soft serve twist with rainbow sprinkles in a cone and leave one hand free to check out some of the arcade games inside. Maybe even redeem yourself after a losing round of mini golf (maybe),

Mr. Tee’s and The WooHoo

If you’re looking for a challenge with some ~retro vibes~ try out mini golf at Mr. Tee’s. Spring for the 36-hole package for a real challenge. The course is compact but it makes it all the more challenging! We love to go at night when the whole course is illuminated with neon lights. After tee time, hit the arcade on-premises before heading out to grab some of the best and most unique ice cream on LBI. The Woo Hoo might sell their pints all over the island, but the best place to grab a scoop is at the Beach Haven location. They have so many vegan and dairy free options too that’ll make your mouth water. Try the fresh-baked cobbler sundae with your choice of ice cream and you’ll be in ice cream heaven!
