Whether they’re deep-fried and slathered in buffalo sauce or oven-roasted with a tangy dry rub, LBI restaurants know how to make a damn good chicken wing.
From more-obvious tourist favorites to lesser-known local treasures, we’ve put together a list of the absolute best chicken wings on LBI. Here’s where to score the destination’s most requested bar snack when the craving hits.
The Port Hole Cafe
Grab your friends and some cash to visit The Port Hole Cafe, one of our very favorite no-frills spots for a beer and some wings. We love this place for their late-night eats and dive bar vibes. Keep it simple and start with an order of classic buffalo wings, then mix and match with other apps if you’re feeling crazy. This is an old-school as it gets on the island.
Old Causeway
The order here at the OC in Mud City is wings OC-style. While you can order Old Causeway’s wings “buffalo style,” you would be doing yourself a major disservice The OC-style wings are a house speciality and a must-order —they’re super crispy, brushed with honey and served with a side of homemade bleu cheese. You won’t find anything like these wings anywhere else.
Chicken or the Egg
A list of the best wings on Long Beach Island would not be complete without mentioning Chicken or the Egg (CHEGG). They are BUSY, always — so be sure you add your name to their waitlist on Yelp before heading to Beach Haven for your wing fix. With more than a dozen chicken wing sauce flavors like “Swamp Sauce,” “Bee Sting,” and “MediYUMMM,” there's truly something for everyone. Did we mention they have vegetarian wings, too? Score.
The Northside Bar and Grill
The best restaurant for bar bites on Long Beach Island is The Northside Bar and Grill. This family sports bar in Surf City serves a classic buffalo-style wing as well as a Hawaiian BBQ-style wing for those feeling more flavor. They always have an awesome live music lineup here and when the weather is nice we are loving their outdoor dining setup!
